SUMMARY:Saginaw: Visit the Saginaw Children's Zoo
DESCRIPTION:Animals: \nThe Saginaw Children’s Zoo is home to more than 150 mammals\, birds\, reptiles\, amphibians and invertebrates (not counting the insects) year round! They mean the world to us. Each is named and cared for by our amazing zookeepers and veterinarian. Like you\, we feel quite a thrill when we observe their habitats\, watch them eat and play\, and interact with them. \nWhile visiting the Zoo you may run into a few of our feathered friends walking the beautiful gardens and walkways. Peacocks and peahens roam our Zoo grounds\, as do the ducks around the large pond\, and our chickens. Our aviary also features birds in free flight. \nOur exhibits are designed with the animals in mind. Just like you\, we want them to be happy\, healthy and enriched with lots of ways to play and move. \nRides: \nRides are an essential part of the Zoo experience! Our visitors tally up more than 67\,000 carousel rides and nearly 75\,000 train rides each season.\nCost: $1 per person\, per ride or $5 per person for an unlimited day pass \nAttractions: \nPlayground\nSwing like a capuchin in Monkey Jungle\, climb Kilimanjaro Mountain\, slide down Tree Top Lodge or show off your speed on the Cheetah Run while mom and dad take a seat and relax under the Animal Pavilion! \nLoons Baseball Diamond\nHit a home run and feel like a pro as you run the bases of our Loons Baseball Diamond! \nFossil Find\nFossil Find is a place where adults can take a seat and relax while children become world-famous paleontologists as they uncover dinosaur bones and learn about the discovery of prehistoric animals. \nWalk-Through Aviary\nThe Walk-Through Aviary is adjoined to the kangaroo exhibit in the Australian Outback. The aviary exhibits five cockatiels\, which are native to Australia\, in a free-flighted environment. Guests are invited in and have the option to feed the birds a millet stick. Millet sticks are a favorite snack item of these small birds. \nThis attraction also features two ring-necked doves and two completely enclosed exhibits for Poppy\, the Zoo’s umbrella cockatoo\, and Wedgie\, the moluccan cockatoo. The Aviary will be open to the public seasonally\, as temperatures are appropriate for the cockatiel flock. \nWetland Experience\nThe Wetland Experience is a natural wetland ecosystem with plants and fish native to Michigan wetlands. Plunge below the surface in the underwater viewing area to see the wetland creatures that live below\, feel like a beaver as you explore the crawl-through “beaver dam\,” take a wiggly-walk on the Wobbly Bridge and enjoy a beautiful waterfall as you enjoy the up-close and personal wetland experience. \nCost: Infants 11 months and under: FREE\nChildren ages 1-17: $5.00\nAdults: $5.00 \nLearn More: SAGINAW CHILDREN’S ZOO \nOpen daily 10 am – 5 pm
