Painterly Pottery is the region’s largest contemporary paint your own pottery studio. With over 1,000 unfinished items available for personalizing, Painterly Pottery offers daily walk-ins, weekly specials and opportunities for larger group outings from birthdays to bridal showers. Visitors create in casual, comfortable and inspiring environments (that seat up to 60 painters), and come back to pick up their fired, finished and usable art.

Tasty Tidbits – Did You Know…?

  • 2 For 1 Tuesdays

Painterly Pottery’s Bay City location offers Kids’ Workshops with Clay every Thursday. Children ages 6 – 16 (or younger with adult accompaniment) can work with a clay expert to hand build the week’s project, from animal bowls and owl “hot coco” mugs to castles and gingerbread houses. Participants can then come into the studio for a second time, and paint their creation from the previous visit. In short, children can enjoy two visits, two experiences—making clay art, and then painting their own clay art—all for $15!

  • Safe Glass Classes

Both Saginaw and Bay City locations offer multiple vignettes of glass fusing workshops: Kid & Parent Glass Class; Adult Glass; Jewelry Making; Intro to Glass, etc. Fused glass has been fired, making it what is called “soft glass” with no sharp edges—and no concern for parents.

  • Pottery to Go

Painterly Pottery visits schools, assisted living homes, and libraries throughout our region and state! Supporting education and interactive art, and often working in tandem with library programs, Painterly Pottery offers an age-appropriate, fun presentation that changes by season. They may ask participants, “Who can guess how hot a kiln gets while firing ceramics?” The answer: 1,835 degrees! Check with your local library to see if Painterly Pottery will be coming your way, or arrange a visit via www.painterlypottery.com.

“It’s not only about making something, it’s…making art, making memories,” says Jeff Ward, owner of Painterly Pottery. “It’s spending quality time with special people, and having a blast, and having something to show for it to remember the experience by.”
