Midland’s DOW GREAT LAKES BAY INVITATIONAL Offers Family-Fun


There is no reason to travel far this summer with all the amazing events occurring right here at home in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Mid-July is packed full with family-fun which includes the DOW GREAT LAKES BAY INVITATIONAL  occurring at the Midland Country Club from July 15 – 20. This event is FREE to Kids ages 17 and under who are accompanied by a ticketed adult. Do not miss this chance to watch and meet the world’s top 144 women professional golfers compete for a $2 million purse. The fun continues on with additional activities occurring during the event, including the interactive exhibit, STEM IN SPORTS.

STEM IN SPORTS

Families are welcomed to check out and participate in the Youth STEM Center, on-site at the Dow Invitational, open from Wednesday, July 17 to Saturday, July 20. Have fun playing five different sports while learning about the science behind it.

Golf

Why do golf balls have dimples? Play 3-holes of mini golf to learn about friction and how it affects the game.

Hockey

Test your skills on the air hockey table and see how you improve with different puck sizes. Examine how different elements (sand, grease, and nothing) affect how far a puck will travel on the shuffleboard.

Tennis

Why is a tennis ball fuzzy? Experiment with different rackets to see how high a ball will bounce. Test your new found knowledge on the Wii Tennis and table tennis.

Baseball

How fast can you throw a ball? Learn about pitching styles with both your left and right hand.

Racing

Make a lego car and test how fast it will go on the speed ramp. Learn about how tires affect the speed of the car.
