The Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, takes on a new twist in John Jakes’ retelling as Charles Dickens himself begins reading to the audience, only to become a part of the action as the story unfolds. Dickens weaves himself into the tale in supporting roles, and even joins in on a carol or two. Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and Bob Cratchit don’t disappoint, and the author’s presence on stage helps encapsulate the original magic of the beloved Christmas masterpiece.
