Partnerships Helps Bay & Arenac County Families with Diapers
Great Start Parent Coalition strives to collect a bus load of diapers for Bay & Arenac Children at the Great Lakes Bay Moms Kid’s Block Party in Wenonah Park and the surrounding downtown

An amazing partnership has grown in the Great Lakes Bay Region. The Great Start Parent Coalition will kick off their second annual diaper drive on September 14th at the Great Lakes Bay Moms Kids’ Block Party with diaper donations to be given to the Bay Arenac Diaper Council to help families in need across Bay and Arenac Counties. By bringing a donation of diapers to the event you will help to meet the need of hundreds of young children whose diapering needs go unmet each day. One in three American parents have had to choose between diapers and other basic needs such as food. When babies are kept in wet, dirty diapers for an extended period, or if the diapers are cleaned out and reused they experience more discomfort, cry more, and suffer from worse diaper rash. Bay Arenac Diaper Bank Council Co-Chair Kimberly Martini-Toth: “Parents are going without diapers for their children and we are trying to ensure that every child has their diapering needs met to preserve their health, well-being and dignity. If we can increase the diaper supply for Bay & Arenac Counties we can help more families to meet their diapering need.” Ms. Martini-Toth indicated that they are in need of all sizes, but run particularly low on sizes 4,5,6, and Pull-ups.
The generous leadership of the Great Start Parent Coalition in partnership with Great Lakes Bay Moms Kids’ Block Party made the drive very successful last year and organizers hope for the same this year. The goal is to fill a bus—not a car, but a BUS– with diapers! Cash and diaper donations will be collected throughout the event area. Amy Trogan, Great Start Parent Coaltion Coordinator: “We are so excited to kick off our second annual drive at the Great Lakes Bay Moms Kids’ Block Party; we know how important having diapers is to meeting a child’s needs, and giving them a great start. We hope people will help us stuff this bus with diapers for the children in need in Bay and Arenac County.”
Not only will there be a diaper drive, but the streets of downtown Bay City will be alive with activity as families from our Great Lakes Bay region play, promote and celebrate in a community atmosphere for free! Let the kids bounce their hearts out in the jump house, take in a Delta Planetarium show, engage in a scavenger hunt (with prizes!) and climb aboard multiple transportation vehicles.
