Tasty Tidbits – Did You Know…?

  • Sandy Knows…Psychology?

Sandy earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from the University of Michigan. She was working as an underwriter for an insurance company before opening the bake shop.

  • Ah-Ha Moment

Interested in pursuing her passion for baking, she visited the French Pastry School in Chicago – and knew immediately that her life was going to change! She quit her “day job”, and attended the pastry school. Opening Sweet Sandy B’s was a leap of faith – and a step toward living a life she loves.

  • Inspired Momtrepreneur

Sandy says getting to be part of family celebrations with repeat customers is “what keeps her going”. Honored to create repeat birthday cakes, anniversary cakes, first communion cakes… She finds great joy in clients’ allowing her to know their families personally.

*And her kids, ages six and five – her five-year-old recently designed the birthday cake she wanted her mom to create! Her children are often seen around Sweet Sandy B’s Bake Shop – another ingredient that Sandy loves about her bakery.

“I love that my kids are seeing me working hard. I respect the value of hard work,” Sandy says, “and they are also seeing me do what I enjoy. It’s surreal. It was scary and exciting to ‘leave my day job’ and open a storefront…If you dwell too much, you’ll never have the courage to just jump in and follow your dreams.”
